For the gas to be used as an energy source it has to be processed to remove any other material and gas other than methane. Thus natural gas has to be extensively processed before using it. It is obtained in its natural mixed state from oil fields, natural gas fields and coal beds. From these places the gas is taken out using various devices and machinery that is usually owned by a company or a corporation. All over the world there are many such companies and corporations that have their own natural gas fields. These are the ones that further provide this gas after processing to different gas distributors and providers.

Electricity on the other hand has to be produced. There are various methods by which electricity is produced. Using gas is one of the way. This natural gas is used to heat water and the steam that is produced is used to rotate the turbines that are connected to electricity generator. Thus as the turbines rotate the generator generates electricity. Some other methods include power generation from water, wind and heated gases. Electricity is also produced from photo voltaic cells that directly convert sunlight to electricity.
